Working with buttercream
The recipes for various buttercream are on the Key recipes page.
Here I want to show you a few techniques you can use to make great designs. Buttercream (or any other frosting) can be used for many things but we generally use it to ice the cake (when covering it with fondant), to do nice cake borders (bottom of the cake) or ornaments on the top (or sides) of a cake.
To do so, you need again to have the proper tools like a pastry bag (either in disposable or washable material) and various metal ends with different openings. The ones I would recommend to have first would be those with the star shaped opening and various round opening because most of the techniques I will show you are using them. The smaller roung opening will be for writting something on the cake.
